• Plant Installation
Planting is a lot more than just placing a tree or shrub in a hole you've dug in the ground. It's evaluating the right location, selecting the appropriate plant, and installing it in correctly prepared soil at the proper depth. All trees and shrubs receive 18 month fertilizer tabs to get them off to a good start. Flowers receive a granular time release fertilizer to ensure strong, healthy growth. This is our approach to every project. I go to growers and nurseries from Los Angeles to San Diego to find the best, most appropriate plants for your project.
• Slopes
Slopes need cleanups, planting, mulch and irrigation. Let us take care of your troublesome slope for you. Cleanup removes unwanted plants. We will plant ground cover, low growing shrubs, trees or shrubs, whatever is appropriate for your particular location. We can set up proper irrigation so the plants thrive. And finally, mulch. Mulch allows the water to infiltrate the soil rather than run off. Not to menntion, mulch looks much better than bare soil.
• Periodic Maintenance
Periodic Maintenance: quarterly or semi-annually. Does your weekly 'mow & blow' gardener prune your shrubs and trees properly? Does he fertilize your shrubs on a timely basis? Does he maintain a layer of mulch around your shrubs or is it just bare dirt? Have us come by periodically to take care of the things that your weekly gardener neglects. We can prune your shrubs and trees properly, mulch your beds and fertilize on a regular schedule.
• Seasonal Color
With a good structure of trees and shrubs in place, what's needed next is the addition of seasonal color in the form of perennials and annual flowers. Flowers are changed with the season - cool season annuals for the rainy winter season and warm season annuals for the dry summer season. Whether it’s planted in garden beds or arranged in containers, seasonal color can add a real touch of pizazz to your property. Talk to us about our seasonal color ideas.
• Condominiums
Live in a condominium? Do you just have a small back yard and some containers on the patio that you need help with? We welcome small jobs. We can create a beautiful garden for you and come back periodically to keep it looking its best.
• Mulch
Mulching can be one of the most beneficial things you can do for your soil and your plants. A layer of mulch will suppress weeds, help moderate the soil temperature and retain moisture, reducing the need for watering. Mulch reduces the splash of your sprinklers allowing the water to slowly infiltrate the soil rather than run off the bare dirt. Mulch is particularly effective on slopes.
While there are many types of mulch, organic mulches such as wood chips, bark, or compost improve the soil by adding organic matter as they decompose. Mulch also encourages earthworms and other beneficial soil organisms that help improve soil structure and the availability of nutrients for your plants.
Mulch also enhances the look of your garden. Mulches provide a rich color and texture that highlights the plants, a look that bare dirt just can't match.
• Pruning
Proper pruning enhances the beauty of almost any landscape tree and shrub, while improper pruning can ruin or greatly reduce its landscape potential. Gardens continue to grow and evolve. Proper pruning sets the framework for future growth. Many problems may be prevented by pruning correctly during formative years for a tree or shrub.
